feltwilde's recommended reading

Hi Guys, Thought it might be interesting to find out what your favourite feltmaking books are. I've just spent the morning doing a top 10 recommended reading list for my website. It got me wondering whether there's other gems out there that I've never heard of. Surely that's a good resource for us all to have. So....what's your favourite feltmaking book of the moment. I've included my top 3, and would really love to know your opinion, views, favourites.

1. Uniquely Felt. Dozens of techniques from fulling and shaping to nuno and cobweb. Includes 46 creative projects. Christine White. Extremely comprehensive. Great for beginners to more experinced.

2. Feltmaking and Wool Magic. Contemporary Techniques and Beautiful Projects. Jorie Johnson.
My favourite feltmaker with exquisite techniques and designs. Extremely professional.

3. How We Felt. Designs and techniques from Contemporary Felt Artists. Carol Huber Cypher.
Interesting techniques and an inspiring gallery of felt works.

I would like to add to this list "Felt to stitch" written by Sheila Smith.

I love Creative Felting by Lizzie Houghton. I've seen her wearing some of her creations and they are so wild and adventurous! The book is inspiring techniques, rather than specific projects.
Also had a lot of inspiration in the early days from Simply Felt by Margaret Docherty and Jayne Emerson.
Favourite book at the moment is Nuno Felt by Liz Clay - well-illustrated and comprehensive descriptions.

I have also read Feltmaking and Wool Magic. It demystified many feltmaking techniques for me! I really liked the content of the book but unfortunately not the style of her work.

I love M.E.Burkett's: The Art of The Felt Maker, a history and lots of images of traditional felt making through the ages.
Ayala Talpai's: The felting Needle... fun, with easy to follow instructions
India Flint and Toyoko Sugiwaka's: Felt (Handmade Style) it's simple and beautiful.
I agree that Liz Clay's: Nuno is a lovely book too.
Sheila Smith's Felt to stitch is great too because of the variety of techniques she has in there.

I love Hand Felted Jewelry and Beads by Carol Huber Cypher.
Also like the Complete Feltmaking easy techniques with 25 great projects. I have all the other books mentioned and love them all, some more then the other.

I list all of the mentioned books on a book list I include in my Nuno Felting Workshop hand out. I would also add Fabulous Felted Scarves by Hagen and Johnson. As for new books, I just pre-ordered one from Amazon, due out this summer:

"Felting Fashion: Creative and Inspirational Techniques for Feltmakers"
Lizzie Houghton; Hardcover; $18.45

Can't wait!!
